MMA CHAMP GSP Using Fasting to Minimize Colitis Symptoms
It’s great to see that the benefits of fasting are becoming more main stream. Watch this video and you can see how GSP is using Intermittent Fasting to heal and overcome his Ulcerative Colitis. He is not on a strict diet at this point and using (IF) as main tool to control his Colitis. On top of successfully controlling his IBD symptoms he looks super lean. He speaks about how his body composition has changed and how fat has been reduced and muscle mass has been increased. I’m very happy that at superstar like GSP is showing some of the amazing healing benefits of fasting.
My Experience with Intermittent Fasting
I was working with a guy at my day job who was in great shape or that most of us would call shredded. I noticed he never ate lunches or anything during the day. The only thing that I seen him consume was 1-2 black coffees during our shift. I asked him why he never ate at work? He told me that he was previously a very competitive MMA fighter and fasting was a tool he used to stay lean. On top of the physical benefits of looking ripped it had health benefits such as lowering inflammation, and keeping insulin balanced throughout the day. I was intrigued by his results and I probably asked him 100 questions that day.
Giving It a Try
I was excited and decided to give intermittent fasting a try. I would fast during the week and weekends I would enjoy and eat freely. The following week I decided I would stop eating at 10pm and have my first meal at 12pm. I fasted for 14 hrs leaving me with a window of 10 hrs to eat. The first week was challenging as I experienced hunger pangs in the morning. By the second week, I was getting used to it and I could minimize the hunger by drinking a few glasses of water. A few weeks passed and I noticed that I was loosing body fat looking better than ever. On top of the obvious visual benefits I noticed that my joint pains had disappeared, energy was more stable, and I was sleeping better.
I continued to do my monday to friday fasting for the rest of the summer and I felt really good. I fell off the wagon a few times during the first year. It’s hard to say no to your buddies when your fasting and you want to go out and eat with them during lunches.
5 Years of Intermittent Fasting
It’s hard to believe that I have been using fasting for health benefits for 5 years and my results have been nothing short of awesome. I’ve gotten very lean using this strategy without having to do endless cardio. I love this because losing fat this way is almost effortless once you get use to it.
(IF) Is more of a lifestyle than a diet which is what creates long term health benefits. This is where the magic is! I’ve changed my habits around eating and I’ve reaped the health benefits whether being more lean, increased energy, and enjoying great meals without worrying about gaining unnecessary fat.
