This is one of the most important posts you’ll ever read. Why? Because it separates people who beat their disease from the ones who are destined to become life long victims.

To be a VICTIM OR a VICTOR? 

Your mindset on this matter will determine your long term trajectory.  I'm not oversimplifying the matter, it's the truth! The world is a HARD place and you need to develop GRIT if you want to succeed.

Victimhood is the COOL thing these days 

 In 2021 it seems like being a victim is the in thing. People jump at the chance to showcase their problems, conditions, and challenges. They inadvertently brag about them on social media, owning them like badges & trophies of honor. Anything to get the likes and pitty responses. It's like poor me, my life is so hard! No, my life is harder and my problems are BIGGER than yours.  

We’ve Become “Addicted” to Sympathy

So many people are addicted to talking about their problems! Bold Statement, right? Why would I WANT to be addicted to suffering? Suffering gives you a reason to complain and get attention. ANY behaviour that’s rewarded will be repeated. 

Yes, likes and sympathy messages are rewards! 

It's easy to become addicted to sympathy, but it gets you NOWHERE! This includes wearing t-shirts that support your disease, joining support groups, admitting to being a sufferer, patient or whatever term you decide to use. Any slogan that further enables the victim mentality will not serve you!

Support Groups

We like to join support groups where we can drown our sorrows and talk about our problems. I understand It feels good to find people like yourself who know what you're going through. 

Eventually, you’ll realize most support groups are merely forums to complain. Let’s be real, misery loves company.  Most groups are infatuated with the problem and rarely focus on the solution. Yes, there may be a few good ones. I'm not knocking their intentions, but rather their outcomes.

Ask yourself an honest question: How do these groups actually serve you in overcoming your autoimmune disease? Do they provide viable long term solutions to fixing your health problems? Are the people in these groups where you want to be? In most cases the answer will be no. 

Poor Me 

It's normal to feel bad for yourself when you’re first diagnosed. What isn't normal is staying in this place for long periods of time. 

We all have problems! 

I could go off: I came from a single-parent fatherless home. I was poor and lived in a high crime ghetto. We ate processed garbage on the regular. I failed kindergarten because I wasn’t the sharpest tool in the shed. I was diagnosed with ADD and Asthma by age of 9. Then in my early twenties I got diagnosed with 3 autoimmune conditions. I experienced severe depression, anxiety, then I found out I was dyslexic … boo hoo poor me.   

Spoiler alert: my life didn't end up badly 🙂 

I was fortunate enough to grow up in conditions that didn't let me be a whining suck. Complaining and broadcasting my problems did nothing because nobody cared! When I got my autoimmune diagnosis I had nobody to take care of me or pay my bills.  I had 2 options: find a viable solution or be prepared to suffer. 

Nobody Cares! 

Likes and words of sympathy don't fix your problems or pay your bill's. Most people don’t care about your problems when it comes down to it because they're busy thinking about their own problems. Yes, there are likely people in your life that care about you. But my main point is that it’s YOU who are responsible for fixing your health. 

Tough Love

I'm not trying to depress you but make you realize overcoming Autoimmune Disease will be a YOU journey. Nobody is going to step in and do the work for you.  Sometimes we need people to be blunt with us and give us tough love. We're living in a world that has literally become too soft where people rarely accept responsibility for their situations.

Everything I do on this site is because I care about you beating your condition. Getting diagnosed with an autoimmune disease is shitty, but it doesn't mean your stuck suffering.

You can greatly improve your condition and live a pretty awesome life! 


How To Avoid Being a Victim

  • Avoid Support Groups
    They don't serve you unless outcome specific. Listen to people who have the results you are seeking. 
  • Don't Identify as a VICTIM
    This means keep your Victim Card in your wallet or consider throwing it out completely!
  • STOP Always Talking about your Disease
  • Change Your FOCUS 
    Shift your focus to the results you are seeking.. overcoming your disease, and becoming the best version of yourself.
