Why I gave up SUGAR for 2 YEARS and healed my Autoimmune Disease!

No joke! doing this literally changed my life. If your suffering from Crohns or Colitis this strategy can change your life.

Why I gave up SUGAR for 2 YEARS and healed my Autoimmune Disease

WHY I Made This Decision?

I self diagnosed myself with an IBD with the help of google. My doctor disagreed, and agreed to send me for tests.  In my mind, I accepted that I had an IBD.  I started looking for options to keep the disease in check. My  focus was finding natural strategies as I was scared of taking drugs. I learned about a diet called The SCD Diet, that was helping other people with IBD’s. There was nothing to loose, so I decided to give the diet a shot. I did a half ass version of the diet as I was lazy to read the book. This was SCD with cheats here and there.

Was It HARD?

You bet your ass it was! My sugar addiction was so brutal that I would chew chocolate bars and then spit them out. My cravings controlled me and I would eat anything I could find. I felt bad eating sugary foods and then would throw them in the garbage. I was so addicted I would go into the garbage later and retrieve them. The only way I could stop myself from eating the things I threw out was to spray them with Windex… I felt like a complete drug addict. Never, had I experienced something that had this much control over me.

After my initial struggle I decided to rid my house of all foods containing sugar and refined carbs. This is what I like to call the burn the bridge strategy. You are completely committing to your outcome and removing any option of failure.

Was It Worth It?

Without a doubt it was worth giving up sugar during this time. My health has improved on almost every front since dramatically reducing my processed sugar intake.

As much as I enjoy the taste of sugar it can be one of the most toxic and addicting substances on the planet. If you want to know exactly why it might be worth giving up I urge you to check out this awesome video.

I am not saying that you have to give sugar up forever but rather to help heal your gut then have it in small doses or during special occasions. Once I healed my gut I was able to tolerate it in smaller doses. As you heal your healing plan will allow more for intuitive decisions like how do I feel after I eat these sugary foods. Does sugar make me feel good or do I end up feeling scatter brained and experiencing inflammatory symptoms? If you have gut issues or suffer from an autoimmune disease you should consider giving up sugar for a few months. Let the results speak for themselves.  I can tell you personally that reducing my sugar intake changed my life. You can see Why I gave up SUGAR for 2 YEARS and healed my Autoimmune Disease.

The GUT Ninja

Jay aka "The Gut Ninja" Health Hacker trying to pay it forward. I'm a dude whose life was flipped upside down diagnosed with severe Crohns-Colitis, and R. Arthritis. I lost almost 60lbs in less than a year. I felt bad for myself for a few months then I made a decision that I was going to beat this death sentence. I went on a mission to study "remission" what things other people did to improve their Gut troubles and live normal lives. I turned myself into a walking Frankenstein and through lots of trial and error I was able to achieve remission. I've been med free flare up free for 10+ years. My mission is to help other people overcome autoimmune disease.
